About Us
We are the oldest Boy Scout troop in Suffolk County and celebrated our 100th year in 2015.
We are chartered by the East Moriches Fire Department and have been since 1915 which makes our Fire Department the oldest, continuous chartered organization of the Boy Scouts of America nationwide.
Troop 29 is both honored and proud of our strong and long-term relationship with the East Moriches Fire Department.
Many of our Boy Scouts have gone to become members of the East Moriches Fire Department.
They were taught to “be prepared” in scouting and now have made a lifestyle by being prepared on a moment’s notice to save lives, livelihoods and property.
Troop 29 and the East Moriches Fire Department have a lot in common such as:
• “Be Prepared” — on a moment’s notice
• Do a good turn daily — to protect the community
• The Scout Oath — to help other people at all times
• The Scout Law — a scout is brave
Our goal is to provide the best program possible carried out by a boy led and boy run troop under the direct guidance of adult supervision.
Troop 29 offers over 70 different in-house merit badges thanks to our over dedicated merit badge counselors. We meet every Tuesday from 7:30 – 9:00pm at the Fire house during the school year. Come down and check us out or give us a call. We might just be what you are looking for!
